Julie Doty
graduated from the University of California at Irvine in 1993 with
a degree in Criminology, Law and Society, and a minor in Spanish.
She graduated from Whittier College School of Law in Los Angeles,
California in 1997. After graduation, she became a Deputy District
Attorney in the Benton County Prosecuting Attorney’s office
in the Tri Cities area of Washington State. She then transferred
to the Spokane City Attorney’s Office where she worked as
a Prosecuting Attorney in the Spokane Regional Domestic Violence
Unit.
In 2001, wanting
to work closer to her home and family, Julie joined the Coeur d’Alene
City Attorney's Office and, later, the Kootenai County Prosecutor's
Office. She was a prosecuting attorney for major felony crimes including
second-degree murder and rape. In addition, she prosecuted various
misdemeanor crimes including DUI, domestic violence and juvenile
offenses before leaving for private practice in 2004.
Julie now handles
a wide variety of criminal defense cases for Amendola & Doty,
PLLC, where she is a partner in the firm. Her primary focus is in
family law and criminal defense. Her prior experience as a prosecutor
is most useful in cases where settlement negotiations have failed,
or are not acceptable to her clients, and a trial becomes necessary.
She also enjoys involvement in divorce and child custody cases.
Julie’s personal enjoyment includes spending time outdoors
with her husband and two young boys.
